Kali Limni

On Lastos plateau lies the highest peak of Karpathos, Kali Limni (1215 m). An ideal route for hiking, though the uphill path is not really marked, as there are only 3 signs on the first part of the hike and one up on the top of the mountain.

Nevertheless, you can find colored dots on rocks made by previous hikers that help you get to the top, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view across the island.

On your way to the top, the terrain is quite dry and rocky, but in Kali Limni you are about to find large coniferous forests and plenty of low, cushion-shaped thorny shrubs (phrygana).

Although the area has been damaged by fires in the recent past, Kali Limni is still the most wooded and green area of Karpathos, especially on its eastern part. Craggy cliffs, blue coves, small gorges, springs and running waters surrounded by the distinctive lush vegetation of the area make up a one-of-a-kind backdrop not to be missed.
