Folk Art Museum of Menetes

In the picturesque village of Menetes, you can visit the Folk Art Museum which is housed in a small two-story traditional residence of more than 200 years in age. The house was initially supposed to house a chapel, but this plan was never implemented.

Later on, the ground floor served as the village's ossuary. The first exhibit the visitor sees at the entrance is some carved-out tombs, while inside the museum he will get to know some aspects of the island’s folk tradition, as well as habits and objects of everyday life in the past.

Specifically, agricultural tools and traditional utensils are displayed on the ground floor of the residence. On the upper floor with its black and white pebble flooring you can admire musical instruments, old photographs, fine textiles, as well as a large collection of hand-painted plates with various folk motifs.
