Diakoftis Beach

In a natural reserve south of the airport, in Afiartis region, just 19 km from Pigadia, situated at the end of a dirt road on a sheltered bay is Diakoftis Beach. The way to the beach is quite difficult to walk, however, the unique beauty of the two-sided beach that has been formed by sand and rocks and the cedar trees of the place will make up for it.

The sand is fine and pinkish white, giving the water an enchanting light blue color that looks like it belongs to a tropical island. The beach is quite popular with tourists, and it is suitable for families with little children since the water is rather shallow.

At the seaside taverns you can have fresh fish, taste delicious seafood and try traditional Greek dishes. The beach also features the shipwreck that took place a few years ago just outside the port, which remained on-site and became one of the modern exhibits of the island.
